It has come to the attention of many recently that the island nation known as the Philippines is in a dire need of help. They are suffering greatly from loss of homes and land due to severe storms and flooding. Little has been done to help these poor people (“Philippines.”). However, we're here to report how people are now taking action.
An organization known as the World Food Programme has realized the desperate situation the Philippines are in and have decided it is time someone steps in. As a result, they have decided to include the Philippines in their program (“Philippines.”). The group raises money through the wealthy citizens of other countries and use the money to purchase meals, mainly rice, to support Filipino families temporarily. In addition, the organization works close with the Filipino government in attempts to keep peace within the conflicting nation (“Philippines.”).
This is an organization that does what not many other people are willing to do. It is an amazing effort and is truly making a difference in the nation. More and more families are surviving the harsh storms and starvation that comes with it. What's even more amazing is that their example is creating awareness and causing other organizations and mission groups to start helping. And what's even better is that you can help to. They have places for the public to donate via the Internet as well as people to contact if you are willing to go volunteer (“Philippines.”). They understand the Philippines aren't really in the economic position to help their people and they understand that many of us are. They see that they can make a difference in thousands of people's lives, and they truly are.
